Very excited that one of my favorite people is getting married. Which, frankly, I thought might never happen given that she was against marriage and all. But we’re all allowed to change our minds.
And the Maestro changed her mind:
[God, don’t you love that ominous picture? I couldn’t resist.]
I am so looking forward to a German adventure next year! Especially since I’m the matron-of-honor. Doesn’t that just sounds stuffy and bossy? How appropriate!
Although it feels like a million years ago now, in early November we flew down to Key West for Isabelle and Tony’s wedding. Jennifer rented us a little bungalow for the weekend so we shacked up with Jennifer & Dirk and Kristin & Mike.
The boys staked their claim as soon as we arrived. Kinda looks like they’re a couple here, no?
Then again, maybe Jennifer and I are a couple too…
Our first night in town we headed out to explore. Apparently the call was for Mike.
Tony and his best men. Needless to say, they loved him.
The bungalow we stayed at was, um, interesting. Subdued was not the word.
In fact, the ceilings were so low in the room we were sleeping that there might have been some accidents.
The next day we got up early to go scuba diving/snorkeling.
The dive instructor taught us the meaning of relaxed. Even the sharks didn’t faze him.
I only have this picture because the sharks did faze Thom. He was eager to get a break from the water.
Last night Tammy, Emily, Jasper and I had a relaxing dinner in the East Village. In between Jasper’s desperate whines to share my dinner, we heard all about Emily’s wedding planning which might involve a tree or two. This morning these made me think of how she’s sure to be a stunning bride. Congratulations Emily!
Today Mike and Geri are celebrating their marriage in Sofia, Buglaria.
That’s where Thom is now. And I so wish I was with him. Not just because I miss Thom. Or because wish I wasn’t at work right now busy typing email #342 of the day. But also because two weeks after I met Thom he turned to me one morning and said “I have a couple friends coming to visit from Holland. Do you mind if they stay with us?” It was only the beginning of Thom’s friends that came trooping through our living room. Thom met some of the most amazing people during his study abroad. I’m so happy with can count Julia (and now Joseph), Annake and Mike as friends. I only wish they could come visit us more often.
And, really, it just speaks to how different Thom and I are. I was miserable the entire three months of my study abroad in London. It was wet and I was broke. But that trip did bring Haverly into my life so I still think of it all as worth it.
We always knew that Whitney & Jesse are amazing photographers but we’re so happy that Jesse placed in the Wedding Photojournalist Association awards - four times over! And our picture is #14!
Oh, and we’re gonna stop ripping them off with the masthead just as soon as we figure out how to design a new one. (That’s the royal “we.” Thom already knows how to do it but hasn’t yet shown me.)
